Town of Elgin Seeks Residents for Two Zoning Board of Appeals Seats
The Town of Elgin is looking for community-minded residents to fill two open seats on its Zoning Board of Appeals. The board plays an important role in how Elgin grows, hearing requests for variances and special exceptions and considering appeals of decisions made in enforcing the town’s zoning ordinance. Serving on the board is a meaningful way for residents to help balance property owners’ needs with the character and long-term interests of the community.
The Open Seats
The two vacancies carry different residency requirements:
- Seat 1: Applicants must reside within the Elgin town limits.
- Seat 2: Applicants must reside in Elgin, but do not need to live within the town limits.
This second seat gives residents of the greater Elgin area who live just outside town boundaries an opportunity to take part in local decision-making.
How to Apply
All interested applicants must complete a Biographical Data Sheet and submit it to Elgin Town Hall. When applying, please indicate which seat you are interested in.
