Providing Support and Resources for the Businesses of Elgin

BUSINESSESThe South Carolina Business Loan Fund is built with funds of the Catawba Regional Council of Governments and the federal Economic Development Administration through the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.  There is $8.2M available for businesses impacted by COVID-19 in 29 SC Counties, including Kershaw County.  Loan amounts of $50,000 – $750,000 are available.  For more information of the application process and funds available to you and your business, visit the Catawba Regional Council of Governments website here. BUSINESS LICENSES

Every person engaged or intending to engage in any business, calling, occupation, profession, or activity engaged in with the object of gain, benefit, or advantage, in whole or in part within the limits of the Town of Elgin, is required to pay an annual license tax for the privilege of doing business and obtain a business license as herein provided.

A new Business License model is in effect for 2022.  You may read the Municipal Association of South Carolina Business License Standardization ordinance here.

BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION

The Town of Elgin requires a Building Permit for all new construction, demolitions, and other contractual work.  Please direct all calls about Building Permits to the Town Clerk.

SIGN PERMIT APPLICATION

The Town of Elgin requires a Sign Permit application submitted and approved by the Elgin Zoning Administrator PRIOR to beginning work.  Please direct all calls about Sign Permits to the Town Clerk.
