West Wateree Traffic Study Deadline Extended to August 15, 2016

Kershaw County and the Central Midlands Council of Governments have initiated a plan to focus on identifying the right balance between growth, transportation needs, and the community’s desires for the future. The West Wateree Transportation Study is considering mobility, safety, convenience, and comfort for all modes of transportation coupled with the impact to adjoining land uses and the unique character of the area. The sub-area under study is the southwest corner of Kershaw County, including Elgin and Lugoff.

Toole Design Group, the nation’s leading planning, landscape architecture, and engineering firm specializing in multimodal transportation, has been hired to lead the Kershaw County West Wateree Transportation Study.

Please contact the Reginald Simmons at 803.744.5133 or visit www.centralmidlands.org as the Plan progresses. Additional information can also be obtained by contacting Kershaw County at 803.425.1500 or visit www.kershaw.sc.gov.

All are encouraged to provide additional comments digitally, by accessing the project WikiMap, a web-based interactive mapping platform specifically tailored to the West Wateree study area. The map “crowd-sources” data created by users and provides the project team with further insight on local concerns and desires. Users are able to pinpoint specific locations of interest or areas of concern.

Take a moment to view the transportation map and make suggestions to improve the flow of traffic for the West Wateree Area of Kershaw County-the deadline has been extended to August 15th!
