A special meeting of the Elgin Town Council was held Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. with Mayor Brad Hanley presiding. All council members were present. Invocation by Melissa Emmons and Pledge of Allegiance led by Norman Ernst.
Only two items were on the agenda:
- A Resolution stating the Town Council’s support of the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Dept and the Elgin Police Department. Mayor Hanley read the resolution. A motion by Melissa Emmons to adopt this resolution, 2nd by Norman Ernst. The vote was 4 for 1 abstained (L. Risvold). After the vote Councilman Risvold read a statement as to why he did not vote. - Kershaw Health Sign – Mayor Hanley stated that the area is fine where the sign will be posted, but the sign is too large. Randy Pruitt (Zoning Administrator) reported to council the reasoning behind the decision that the sign cannot be the size that KershawHealth wants. A Motion by the Mayor to appoint Roger Ross and Norman Ernst to a committee to get with the representative (Judy Ferrell) to plan the size of the sign and present another plan to council. 2nd by Melissa Emmons. Unanimous.
Motion to adjourn @ 5:45 p.m.
