ELGIN TOWN COUNCIL MEETING

MINUTES FOR September 4th, 2018

 

CALL TO ORDER

 

The monthly meeting of the Elgin Town Council was held Tuesday, September 4th at 6:00pm with Mayor Melissa Emmons presiding.

 

ROLL CALL

 

Present were Councilman Brad Hanley, Councilman Edward Smith, Councilwoman Naomi Eyers, Councilwoman Candy Silvers and Mayor Melissa Emmons

 

 

INVOCATION

 

Mayor Melissa Emmons gave the invocation.

 

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

Councilman Brad Hanley led Town Council and all others attending the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance

 

 

PUBLIC PRESENTATION

 

 

ACCEPTANCE OF JULY 3, 2018 MEETING MINUTES

A motion was made by Councilwoman Candy Silvers to accept the August 7th, minutes with a 2ndmotion by Councilman Brad Hanley without further discussion and a unanimous vote.

OLD BUSINESS

Council approved the 2nd/Final Reading to amend the Elections Ordinance 137, which will move our current election cycle from February to November during odd years, with a motion by Councilman Brad Hanley, 2ndby Councilman Ed Smith and a unanimous vote from Council.

NEW BUSINESS

Mayor Emmons- Council approved the live streaming future meetings

COUNCIL BRIEFING

  • Councilman Ed Smith- Nothing
  • Councilman Brad Hanley- stated he would like to improve transparency in addition to the live streaming of meetings and start posting the Town’s General Fund Checkbook Register on the State Comptroller’s Site.
  • Councilwoman Naomi Eyers- Nothing
  • Councilwoman Candy Silvers- asked for some type of system prior to Council receiving copies of applications to have access to information regarding Business License Applications and Building Permits. 
  • Mayor Emmons –Nothing
  • Town Attorney, John Wells – reminded Council to amend information available on our website to reflect current/recent amendments to Zoning and Town Ordinances.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 6:28 pm by Councilman Brad Hanley with a 2nd motion by Councilwoman Naomi Eyers, without further discussion and a unanimous vote.
