Elgin’s Citizen of the Year-2013

The Town of Elgin would like to congratulate Mrs. Kathy Brown for being named “Elgin’s Citizen of the Year”. Mrs. Brown is an individual that gives daily to our community in a variety of ways. She is a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife to Chief Harold Brown. She checks on our seniors regularly and was instrumental in the formation of the Elgin Police Department’s Toys Roundup and Caring Hands Organization. She recently celebrated her 20th anniversary with First Citizens Bank in Elgin. She has worked on projects such as the Elgin Catfish Stomp, Elgin Citizen of the Year Committee, PoDunk Festival-I could go on and on and not do her the justice she deserves because of her service to the Town of Elgin. She represents all that Elgin is and has been an inspiration to me and many others as we have had the pleasure to serve alongside of her and have learned the true meaning of being a servant. She is one of the reasons our town is known as “a little town with a big heart”. It is with great pleasure to see her receive this recognition and an honor to have her represent the Town of Elgin. Congratulations Mrs. Kathy, even though she does not like the attention, she is worthy of the recognition.
