The monthly meeting of the Elgin Town Council was held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Elgin Town Hall with Mayor Brad Hanley presiding. All council members were present. Invocation by Melissa Emmons and Pledge of Allegiance led by Larry Risvold followed.
Motion to approve November minutes by Larry Risvold, 2nd by Bubba Ernst. Unanimous.
Financial Information: Mayor Hanley noted two categories in the revenue – October Local Option Sales Tax and Police fines. He also reference the annual audit from Dooley and Co. Mr. Dooley will be at the January 2012 meeting to review the audit with council.
Mr. Dan Vismor (Vismor and Associates) spoke with council regarding the Comprehensive Plan – which needs updating by December 2012. Council will review the proposed updates for this plan. Council will decide if they will go with Mr. Vismor’s plan and contract him at a later date.
Randy Pruitt (Elgin’s Zoning Administrator) brief council on the recent ISO audit wherein Elgin was rated a “6”.
Mayor Hanley recognized Officer Renee Wilson on her 5th year anniversary with the Town and Police Department. Renee started working for the Town in November 2006.
Melissa Emmons stated that she would like to appoint Novella Taylor on the vacancy on the planning and zoning committee. Council had no objections.
