ELGIN TOWN COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES FOR DECEMBER 3, 2014

CALL TO ORDER

The monthly meeting of the Elgin Town Council was held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 6:30pm with Mayor Brad Hanley presiding.

ROLL CALL

Present were Mayor Brad Hanley, Councilwoman Melissa Emmons, Councilman Edward Smith, Councilwoman Candy Silvers and Councilwoman Dana Sloan.

INVOCATION

Councilwoman Melissa Emmons gave the invocation.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Brad Hanley led Town Council and all others attending the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance

ACCEPTANCE OF NOVEMBER 4, 2014 MEETING MINUTES

A motion was made by Councilman Ed Smith to accept the November 4 minutes and with a 2nd motion by Councilwoman Melissa Emmons without further discussion, with a unanimous vote.

NOVEMBER COMPLAINTS
Bubba Ernst stated the sign at Miller Lumber for “propane filled here” was not in compliance with our town ordinance for Incidental signs. He asked if they had applied for a sign permit, which Melony informed him they had not. Melony spoke with Randy Pruitt in regards to this matter and he in turn went to Miller Lumber and informed the Manager they were required to have a sign permit for their “A-frame” sign. The manager complied and received a sign permit request from Melony and will return it after the Holiday.

OLD BUSINESS
Councilwoman Dana Sloan gave an update on Potter Community Park. She stated the electrical was completed and the lights are working. She also stated the Catfish Stomp now has a temporary place for water.

Randy Pruitt gave an update for the lighting of Woodland Palms. He said Duke Energy is installing light fixtures and when they complete the project they will bill the Town for the costs.

PUBLIC MEETING

NEW BUSINESS
Chief Brown made a request to Town Council for more Christmas lights for Main Street, as the ones hanging now are old and partially working. Mayor and Town Council approved the purchase of 12 new lights. These new lights will all be the same size and coloring. Melony will check with the electric company to verify there is ample outage to accommodate the new lights.

PUBLIC FORUM

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 6:45pm by Councilwoman Dana Sloan with a 2nd motion by Councilwoman Candy Silvers, with a unanimous vote.
